Art that looks like trash.

Intriguing.

The human condition: everyone produces trash, and no one wants to clean it up. Eskuche’s works aren’t what you would want to clean up though, they are handmade glass objects. They all have minor differences, unlike the machined bottles and cans they are representing. Definitely don’t drop or throw these away.

The way Eskuche arranges this body of work helps tell different stories. Arrangements of crushed, dropped, intact items. Is it a scene after a New Years Eve party? Christmas party? The green glass composition reminds me of Wizard of Oz. I see steel mills, beaches, factories, and landscapes in his many arrangements.

Eskuche chooses to make seemingly functional wares, but displays them in nonfunctional ways. Maybe in the future these will be looked at as relics of what once was.
