Sweet and Low

The title “Sweet and Low” suggests something being elevated up, and then another being crunched down. They balance themselves out. Davis and Harris’ work compliment one another well within this dichotomy, therefore making them perfect choices for this show.

Both Davis and Harris tell different stories in their own unique ways. Davis, a fan of contemporary pop-music and fashion, makes work about these interests with a spiritual twist. Harris works in mid-20th century style Abstract Expressionism, which in the 50s and 60s was all the rage, but the complexities were hard to wrap your head around. The abstract paintings of Harris are multi dimensional, using layers of color to create candy for your eyes. Harris’ paintings go beyond the 3rd dimension, possibly to the 10th dimension. Both artists come together with their energetic use of color. It’s just, wow.

The show is well curated - it has a great diverse flow, with every VaultArt Studio artist on display. The theme does a good job playing on the feeling of our current times. Charlie Wallace’s “Britney Spears, Cher, Boy George, and Justin Timberlake on E.W.” being next to Brian Greiner’s “Toxic Skull” really touches a nerve. I highly recommend “Sweet and Low” as it continues the current trend of wonderful virtual experiences. Check it out in its final week at www.vaultartstudio.org/sweetandlow
