B.E.T. Presents: The True Story of Charlie Wallace

First thing - this show should win more than one award. Maybe all of the awards. Oscars, Grammys, and Tonys. A whole truckload of awards. I can see a lot of other artists being jealous, because Wallace is getting all the awards, but they’ll understand when they see the show. The whole thing is of pure genius. “The True Story” deserves to be in the Smithsonian, the only museum that would do this justice. Carnegie Museum of Art could definitely compliment it though. People will be pounding on the door to get in. They should open the museum for late hours, so patrons can visit it in the middle of the night.

The whole enchilada is filled with great celebrities. Truly brilliant. This is pure art for art's sake. His taste in celebrities is similar to my own. The impact of these celebrities on their communities has improved society as a whole; the world is forever changed for the better. My favorite of the bunch is Prince. Wallace’s rendering is perfect. The colors work really well, and he got all the details down, even to the pinky rings. “When Doves Cry” is one of my favorite songs - I believe it is a song about the human condition and not taking things too seriously.

It’s truly great to see shows like this right now. People are making an effort to keep art and culture alive. The coronavirus epidemic gets me down in the dumps - but this gives me relief. There’s hope. I like the word free, and that's what this show is.

Special thanks to Pittsburgh Fringe and Level Up Studios for hosting “B.E.T. Presents: The True Story of Charlie Wallace.”
